Coming to Theaters This Fall: "Othello"...But Not the Shakespeare One
From The New York Times Lede Blog:
Universal Pictures has announced a six-year partnership with Hasbro to produce at least four feature films based on branded properties.
The properties include “Monopoly,” “Candy Land,” “Clue,” “Ouija,” “Battleship,” “Magic, The Gathering” and “Stretch Armstrong.”
Ignoring the fact that Clue was already made into a movie over 12 years ago, the question remains--will people really want to sit through Monopoly: The Movie, which no doubt will run eight hours only to end in a big fight?
On the other hand, Stretch Armstrong: The Trilogy can't make it to theaters fast enough.

I'm holding out for "Connect Four: The Movie." Daniel Day-Lewis will no doubt earn yet another Oscar nod for incendiary reading of the crucial line: "Pretty sneaky ... sis."
Wilford Brimley as the McDonald's guy (or Scrooge McDuck).
"Eh, what th' hell am I g'na pay you fer? Baltic? My ass."
Featuring Mark Cuban as the "Luxury Tax" guy.
"McDonald's guy???"
I'm an idiot.
I meant 'Monopoly guy.'
All of them should feature Tim Curry.

This was life with my brother between 1974 and 1981. And here I thought we were the only ones.
My sister and I rarely fought over games, though she is a notorious cheater. I'm the banker, she steals the money.
We spent a couple weeks with our grandparents one summer about 10 years ago.
They had a monoploy game and a fancy dining room. We played for days, loaning money under the table so we wouldn't have to stop.
Does anyone follow all the rules? We used to have the computer game, and there were rules, like you had to own all 3 properties to put one house on, you couldn't just start gouging friends and family? And the auctions. Weird.
Did anyone ever play the MAD game? I found it at an antique store in Nebraska for 10 bucks, in great condition.
kaitlyn, I found the MAD game even more frustrating and headache-inducing than Monopoly. But the worst game I ever tried to play was "Managing Your Money", which was put out by the national association of Credit Unions.

The Stretch Armstrong trilogy will end tragically as, years after their conflicts have been forgotten and they have lapsed into inactivity, both Stretch Armstrong and his nemesis Stretch Monster rupture and ooze purple sticky goo everywhere.
