Most Confounding, Self-Rationalizing Blog Entry Find of the Week

Note: I'm not providing the link to the blog in question because I wish to address the content, not give opportunity to attack the writer.

Second Note: I did NOT write the following. I found it on the web.

Third Note: One day I will stop typing "the" as "teh." One day.

I am a Seventh-day Adventist who has recently been baptized. I began learning the Biblical creation story shortly after since it is in my signed statement of faith. I am also a Vegetarian in accordance to the health message my church promotes.

I began studying article online, mostly on Answers in Genesis, when I had questions about the Bible and what current scientific explanations are. Answers in Genesis is an excellent place to find scientifically minded data on the Creation theology. They have even put a number of their books online. I believe in a young earth created as described by Moshe (Moses) in the Torah. This also includes the global flood he described involving Noach.

All of that said, I am a liberal Democrat. I am also a Sci-fi geek who loves Star Trek, Dr. Who, etc. I also love video games and plan on discussing evolution in classic video games.

I too plan on discussing evolution in classic video games. Big, elaborate plans, the fruit of years of labor. Perhaps I mean that I will discuss the use of evolution as a plot device in videogames. Perhaps I mean I will discuss the improvement in quality that videogames have undergone over the years. Perhaps I mean I will enter into classic videogames through the power of christ and discuss evolution with unsuspecting gamers. I'll never elaborate!

He had to drag Dr Who into it? I'm taking that as a personal affront...

I'll never understand people who believe in a literal interpretation of Genesis. It just seems so bizarre.

regarding number 3: good luck. i consider myself to be a good speller, and good at typing. somehow, however, almost every single time i type "the" it comes out as "teh." grr.

Oh, this is FUNNY!! Well, at least he didn't drink ALL the Koolaid...

And Ces, at least you don't constantly type "pubic," instead of "public." (Shut it, Sigmund Freud; nobody asked you.)

Man, I thought I was the only one that consistently type "teh" when trying to type "the". Is there a support group?

Meanwhile, it took me all of 5 seconds to find this guy's blog. All I can say is that this guy probably doesn't have a whole lot of friends because his hobbies and his belief system for politics and religion put him in several hot button categories that just don't mix well.
Interesting find all the same. Thanks Cesc!

The odd thing about Genesis is that if you totally ignore the idea of "days" as meaning literal days and the whole God thing, the story of Creation as told in the bible follows a reasonably accurate timeline. Creation of the Earth (and by definition the heavens), the development of the oceans, the rise of the continents, development of plant life, the origins of animal life first in the sea and then on land and finally the appearance of humans (as the ancients would understand human beings to be at least). Genesis chapter 1 provides a rather interesting interpretation of the process. Where I differ with Creationists and Intelligent Design-ists is that they seem to think that things are immutable and never change which is clearly absurd, and also the absolute certainty that there was a guiding hand every step of the way. I tend to believe in a lot of evolutionary dead ends that we either don't know about or don't care about that got us where we are today.

And once you get to the whole business of all of humanity being the product of two specific progenitors who only figured out procreation because they bit into forbidden fruit, then you get into the realm of propaganda designed to "prove" the superiority of a specific group over their neighbours
